Enduring Discipline

With discipline comes stewardship and managing the God-given gifts He has entrusted us with. On another level of our walk with Christ, discipline comes with enduring. What are we enduring? CORRECTION! In the process of becoming, our growth journey is never without correction. You may have fumbled here and there, own up to it, learn from it and grow! Discipline in the form of correction is not always easy to receive. Sometimes, we fail to examine ourselves in order to check our own heart, i.e. behavior, poor stewardship, words, and decisions.

In Proverbs 15:5 " Whoever learns from discipline is wise." Are you ready to become wise?

I remember as a teenager, I was very quiet, shy, and secretly wanting to do what most of my friends were doing. They were allowed to go to parties, date, hang with boys, etc. I on the other hand, was not permitted to do so for a long time. Some parties were an exception, but my mama was not here for the shenanigans! I was furious, annoyed, and felt life wasn't fair! That's how most teens feel, however, they don't understand what's happening behind the scenes (protection, love, prayers, discernment). See, my mother's "no" became a hard pill for me to swallow. So my college years were wild, hectic, and destructive. Everything I stewarded poorly, and every rash decision I made came a with form of discipline in the end. As I got older and closer to God, I began to retrace my rebellious actions and the discipline that followed. I realized it wasn't a punishment, it was love, protection, and a process of unlearning. Discipline hurts, but if you endure through it, God will cover you with his garment of peace and grace. That's our Abba Father!

Hebrews 12:11 " No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening - it's painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those trained in this way."

As we move forward on our journey of becoming, let's learn to embrace and endure through discipline. Let's do it without any excuses! Trust God through this renewal process, this process of undoing unhealthy habits and mindsets. Remember, new wine cannot be poured into old wine skins. God's form of discipline is rooted in His love, and it's only purpose is to make us look more like His Son Jesus. Discipline is something none of us can avoid, but it is something that we all need.

Endure and grow well sister! It's all for His glory!

Hebrews 12:7 " As you ENDURE this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children."

Love ya!
