Sistah, It’s Time to Come Out of Hiding

Hey beautiful,

This is the time to come out of hiding and walk into what you were called to do. But in order to walk confidently in your calling, you have to know what you were called to. Social media can cloud your mind and make you believe you can and should do everything. Every time you scroll, someone is launching a business, starting a ministry, writing a book, hosting an event, becoming a content creator, or introducing the next “must-do” strategy. Before long, you can become so overwhelmed by everything you could do that you lose sight of what God actually told you to do.

Just because you can do something does not mean you should. God has called you for a specific time and purpose. The talents He has given you should be used for His glory, not as a show for the people you are trying to please.

This is not about proving that you are gifted, capable, or worthy. It is about being obedient. Do what you were called to do...only. You do not have to copy another woman’s assignment to validate your own. You do not have to be everywhere, do everything, or become everything to everyone. Ephesians 2:10 reminds us, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Your work was prepared with you in mind. Your calling has your name on it. And yes, Sistah, people are connected to your calling. Someone is waiting for the encouragement, wisdom, service, solution, testimony, or experience God placed inside of you. Your obedience is bigger than you.

I’ve said it before: it is either day one or one day.

“One day, I’ll write the book.”

“One day, I’ll launch the business.”

“One day, I’ll go back to school.”

“One day, I’ll start taking care of myself.”

“One day, I’ll do what God told me to do.”

But how long will “one day” remain your answer? Time is literally ticking, and TikTok is not benefiting you or giving God a return on His investment. Now, I’m not telling you that you can never enjoy social media. I enjoy it, too, but we have to be honest about how much time we spend watching other people do what they were called to do while neglecting our own assignments. How many hours have you spent scrolling through someone else’s life while making excuses about why you cannot start yours? At some point, we have to stop consuming and start producing.

Remember the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14–30. A master entrusted his servants with talents according to their individual abilities. Two of them used what they were given and produced more. But one servant buried his talent. He allowed fear to make him unproductive, and his master called him wicked and lazy. Do you want to be that person? That may sound harsh, but sometimes we need a loving wake-up call. What have you buried beneath fear, procrastination, comparison, perfectionism, distractions, or excuses? What gift have you continued to sit on because you are waiting to feel ready? What idea have you talked yourself out of because it did not look as impressive as what someone else was doing?

God is not asking you to produce what He gave another person. He is asking you to use what He gave you.

August is nearing its end. Eight months of this year have already passed. What have you produced in these last eight months? I am not asking that question to shame you. I am asking because sometimes we need to pause long enough to tell ourselves the truth. We can become so busy moving through life that we never stop to examine whether we are actually growing.

The evidence does not always have to be something you can post, promote, or place on a résumé. Sometimes, the most important evidence is internal. Do you possess more love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control than you did at the beginning of the year? Are you responding differently to situations that used to trigger you? Are your boundaries becoming stronger? Are you learning to forgive? Are you becoming more disciplined, more emotionally healthy, and more secure in your identity?

Galatians 5:22–23, That fruit is evidence. It is evidence that you have been abiding in God. It is evidence that something has been growing within you, even if no one else has been able to see it yet. Maybe your evidence is outward, you may have lost weight, launched something new, gone back to school, started therapy, improved your finances, become a blessing to others, or finally committed to taking care of yourself. Maybe you have begun using your voice, serving your community, or showing up in spaces you once believed you did not belong in.

Internal or outward, there should be evidence that you are growing. And if you cannot identify any evidence yet, this is not your moment to give up. This is your moment to begin.

It is our time, sistah. We need to launch out into the deep and cast our nets.

In Luke 5, Simon Peter and the other fishermen had worked all night and caught nothing. They had put in the time, used their experience, and done everything they knew to do, but still came back empty-handed. They were tired, disappointed, and probably ready to call it a day.

Then Jesus told Simon, “Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.”

Simon could have allowed his previous failure to stop him and said, “I already tried that.” He could have allowed exhaustion to become his excuse. Instead, he answered, “Nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” He tried again because God had spoken. When Simon obeyed, he caught so many fish that his net began to break. He had to call other people to help him carry what his obedience produced.

What if the thing you are calling a failure was only preparation?

What if God is asking you to try again, but this time with Him?

There is something for you on the other side of your obedience.

How long will you wait?

How long will you continue to make excuses?

How long will you claim to have faith but remain in the same place?

How long will you keep starting a thing and then stopping as soon as it becomes difficult?

How LONG?

James 2:17 tells us, “Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” Faith is not just saying you believe God. Faith requires movement. It literally means you are trusting that if He called you, He will meet you as you move. You have everything you need on the inside of you and "it is good" sistah. Go in faith.

Her's how you Go...

1. Get clear about what God called you to do.

Before you add another goal, project, or responsibility to your life, get quiet and ask God for clarity. Turn down the noise and step away from the constant opinions of social media. Ask yourself: What problem am I called to help solve? Who am I called to serve? What gifts continue to show up in my life? What assignment keeps returning to my heart, even when I try to ignore it? Write down what God shows you. Clarity will help you stop saying yes to everything so that you can give your best yes to what you were actually called to do.

2. Use what is already in your hands.

When Moses questioned whether he was qualified, God asked him, “What is that in your hand?” Moses saw an ordinary staff, but God saw a tool that could be used for His glory.

What is already in your hands? What knowledge, experience, gift, relationship, resource, space, or idea do you already possess? You may not have everything you want yet, but you probably have enough to take your first step. Stop discounting what you have because it does not look like someone else’s beginning. God can use what you are willing to surrender.

3. Choose one act of obedience.

You do not have to complete the entire vision today. You just need to identify your next step. Make the phone call. Write the first page. Register for the class. Record the video. Submit the application. Create the plan. Attend the event. Ask the question. Stop allowing the size of the vision to keep you from taking one small step. Small obedience is still obedience, and consistent steps will eventually create visible evidence.

4. Give your calling dedicated time.

Your assignment cannot continue to live on leftover time. If it matters, put it on your calendar. Give it your focus and protect the time you have set aside for it. Try replacing at least 30 minutes of scrolling with 30 minutes of building. Use that time to pray, study, write, research, create, plan, or practice. Imagine what could be produced if you consistently redirected even a portion of the time you spend watching other people build their dreams.

5. Move before you feel completely ready.

Moses felt inadequate. Joshua needed courage. Esther had to risk being seen. Peter had already experienced failure. None of them had perfect conditions, but they moved.

Joshua 1:7 says, “Be strong and very courageous.” Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is deciding that obedience is more important than comfort. Give yourself a deadline. Tell someone who will hold you accountable. Then take the step—even if your voice shakes while you do it.

Just as Moses did, use what is in your hands.

Be strong and courageous, just as Joshua was.

Launch out into the deep, just as Peter did.

And remember that you were created for this time, just as Esther was.

You do not have to become someone else to fulfill your calling. You do not need everyone’s approval. You do not have to wait until you are completely healed, perfectly prepared, or entirely fearless. God knew every detail of your life when He chose YOU. Your history does not disqualify you. The places where you once felt broken can become part of the evidence.

Sistah, come out of hiding.

Stop burying your gift and comparing your assignment. Use what is in your hands. Take the next step. Go in faith. It is either one day or day one. Let today be day one.
