God Will Find You In The Middle of Your Shift

There are moments that seem small to everyone else, but they leave a mark on your heart because you realize God was in it the entire time. Last Sunday was one of those moments for me.

After church, my sisters and I decided to go to LongHorn Steakhouse for dinner. Nothing fancy or deeply planned, just one of those Sunday afternoons where you want good food, conversation, and time together after pouring out all morning. If you know Sundays after church at restaurants, then you know the atmosphere. It wasn't overwhelmingly busy, but steady. Friends and families gathering around the tables, servers moving quickly. and people lingering over sweet tea and conversations, at least that's what WE were doing.

We were seated toward the back of the restaurant and met a beautiful woman who was our server. We’ll call her Misty. From the beginning, she was pleasant. She smiled when she could, checked on us, brought warm bread and drinks quickly, and kept everything flowing smoothly. But even with her kindness, you could tell something weighed on her. She wasn’t rude or disconnected, she just looked tired in a way that goes deeper than needing sleep.

You know that kind of tired that you carry in your eyes. That was her.

While I stepped away to the restroom, my sisters ordered appetizers. The apps came out quickly, and Misty came back to take our orders. She gave suggestions, commented on some of our meal choices, and continued serving us with kindness, but there was still this heaviness around her. You could almost feel it. She checked on us again later, refilled drinks, made sure everything tasted okay, and at some point all of us quietly said the same thing:

“Something is wrong with her.” We didn't mean wrong in a dramatic way. Just… worn down.

Eventually one of my sisters gently asked if she was okay. That’s when she opened up a little.

She shared with us that she was a tired mama. She works multiple jobs while going to school. She said she was okay, just worn out. We ALL honestly felt that. We have kids of our own, my sisters have littles, and mine are grown 💅🏾 but I have been there.I know so many women know exactly what that feels like. When you're simply Trying to survive,to provide, and stay afloat. We try to show up for everybody while quietly running on fumes and sometimes even empty.

We encouraged her the best we could in that moment. We told her she was doing a great job. We reminded her to keep going. She eventually brought our food, and we continued laughing, eating, and talking together. Before we left, we learned she would also be working on Mother’s Day.

Something about that stayed with us. At the same time, I Am MOORE was preparing for our “Fill Her Cup” giveaway baskets for Mother’s Day, but sitting there in that restaurant, we all agreed:“We need to make another one for her.”

Fast forward to Mother’s Day, my sister and I took our mother and niece back to LongHorn for dinner. This time, we came carrying a gift basket for Misty, almost identical to the one prepared for our giveaway winner. It was unexpected and just a little something to remind her that she was seen, appreciated, and valued. This sunday was quite different from last sunday! It was jam packed. The wait time was over an hour, luckily we were sat fairly quickly and ironically, we weren’t even seated in her section that day.

At our request, our waitress called Misty over, and when she realized the basket was for her, she became emotional and deeply grateful. She thanked us for making her day. And standing there in that moment, I felt God so strongly. Not because of a grand miracle or a flashy moment, but because He reminded me of who He is. El Roi, the God who sees. Just like He saw Hagar in the wilderness, He saw Misty too.

He saw the exhaustion she carried and the sacrifice she's been making. He saw the long hours and the pressure of life. Finally, He saw the strength it took just to keep showing up. And somehow, God used three women she had never met before to remind her that her labor was not unseen. That moment ministered to me just as much as it encouraged her. Sometimes we assume that God only sees us in major moments. We think He only notices the BIG accomplishments, the polished seasons, or the public victories, but God also sees the woman clocking into another shift. The mother stretching her last bit of energy. The person silently battling discouragement while still serving others with kindness.

He sees it all!

Sis, I don’t know what you’re carrying right now. You may feel tired. discouraged, or that life feels heavier than usual. Maybe you’ve been wondering if your effort seven matters. First of all, YES THEY DO! I want to encourage you today: keep going because God sees you.

He sees every sacrifice, prayer, ttear, and every seed planted in exhaustion. He even knows every moment you chose to keep pressing forward anyway instead of throwing in the towel. He honors those sacrifices.

Scripture reminds us in Ecclesiastes 9:11 that “the race is not given to the swift nor to the strong,” but endurance still matters. Your faithfulness still matters. Sis continue on despite weariness still matters.

You may feel unnoticed by people, but Heaven has not lost sight of you.

El Roi still sees. And what He sees, He cares for.

We truly believe this is a season to grow, heal, connect, and become all God created you to be and we have some beautiful experiences coming up for our community.
