Stop Mourning, it’s only sleeping!

Scriptures:

Matthew 9:18-19, Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman

18 While he was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before him and said, “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her,and she will live.” 19 Jesus got up and went with him, and so did his disciples.

Matthew 9:23-25 23 

When Jesus entered the synagogue leader’s house and saw the noisy crowd and people playing pipes, 24 he said, “Go away. The girl is not dead but asleep.” But they laughed at him. 25 After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up.

When we read Matthew Chapter 9, we see all the wonderful miracles Jesus performed. All the miracles were done in faith. Faith, coupled with the word of God, is the perfect recipe for God to move in our lives. To worship means to have reverence, adoration, and devotion to God. It's a lifestyle. It's believing that He can make the impossible possible.

The Ruler realized that his daughter was gone, but he had enough faith to know that all his daughter needed was a touch from Jesus. He knew that if Jesus just touched his daughter, she could live again, so he asked Jesus to come to his home.

Jesus and His disciples followed the Ruler to his home. On the way to heal his daughter, many others were healed by Jesus. This encourages me to know that not only was the Ruler's faith growing, but the disciples and the ones receiving from Jesus, were seeing firsthand the miracles taking place right before their eyes and being strengthened along the journey.

Let’s pause for a moment and think about what you feel may have died in your life. You may have made funeral arrangements, called in the singers to sing that final song, picked out the casket and burial plot, and even invited your friends over to mourn the death of that thing. (insert your promise) But today I ask you...

Where is your faith?

Do you believe the word of God?

Do you believe that Jesus has ALL power in His hands?

Then sis, why have you planned a funeral for what is only sleeping?

Jesus saw all the preparations being made by the family. He saw the professional mourners that were called in. He saw the flute players. He saw the grieving crowd, and He made everyone get out! The Bible doesn’t say that Jesus spoke a word to the girl, it says He took her by the hand, and the girl got up.

So today, I say to you, call off the funeral, take off the grave clothes, and stop mourning that thing. What God has placed inside of you, that promise, IT IS NOT DEAD! it's only sleeping! Sis, I need you to stop hitting the snooze button on yourself. Repent for your unbelief, thank God for His grace, mercy, and His forgiveness. Apply faith to His word and believe with all your heart that He is able to make the impossible possible! Sis, get in His word and allow Him to take you by the hand and lead you to your promise! It's already yours!
