The Hem Was Enough

To the woman who feels like she’s given everything…who’s tired, worn down, and quietly wondering if anything will ever change, this is for you.

I want to remind you of the woman in Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, the woman with the issue of blood. For twelve long years, she suffered with bleeding. She endured twelve years of trying to fix what felt unfixable. Twelve years of searching for answers in places that couldn’t heal her. Twelve years of pouring out everything she had, emotionally, physically, and financially, just because she wanted to feel whole again. There seemed to be no end in sight...in her own strenghth. On top of that, she carried the weight of being labeled unclean.and a reject to society. Ladies, we can't even handle 5 days of a menstral, let alone, TWELVE YEARS!! Anyway back to the story.

She heard that Jesus was coming by and something shifted in her. She made a decision: “If I can just touch the hem of His garment, I will be made whole.” And that’s exactly what she did. In the middle of the crowd, she reached for Jesus. Not to be seen or validated, but to be cleansed. She touched the back edge of His garment and instantly, everything changed. The bleeding stopped! Jesus paused and looked around, not because He didn’t know, but because He felt power leave Him.“ He asked Who touched me. The disciples were confused. because the crowd was pressing in from every side of Him, but Jesus wasn’t talking about any casual contact. He felt intentional faith.

When the woman realized she couldn’t stay hidden, she came forward, trembling and vulnerable. She knew she had to be honest. She fell at His feet and told the whole truth.

By law, her touch should have made Him unclean, but you cannot contaminate a holy God. You can only be restored by Him. Jesus didn’t rebuke or shame her. He didn’t even turn her away.

He called her “Daughter.”

“Daughter, your faith has made you whole. Go in peace.”

Let's unpack that (Blue Letter Bible/Strong's Concordance)

Daughter. That means you are accepted. You are seen. You are covered and you belong.

Your faith: Your decision to reach for Him even when you were tired, even when you didn’t have all the answers. Your conviciton of Truth of ANYTHING, your belief.

Has made: safe and sund, free from danger, destruction, oor suffering

Whole: doesn’t just mean healed, it means saved from perishing, preserved, no loonger in danger, delivered from the penalties of judgement and the evil one.

And when He says, Go in peace,” He’s not just dismissing you. He is releasing you.

Go forward and carry on. Step into the life you’ve entered into with Him.

Peace means you’re no longer in chaos or at war within yourself. You’ve been given safety, security, joy, and supreme happiness, prosperity that can only come from God.

We know from the Old Testament that God is holy, like, truly holy. Sin can’t just sit in His presence like it’s normal. Think about Uzzah. His intentions weren’t bad at all. The Ark of the Covenant started to fall, and instinctively, he reached out to steady it. But the Ark represented God’s presence, and it wasn’t meant to be handled casually or outside of God’s instruction. The moment he touched it, he died.

That can feel harsh at first. Like… “God, he was just trying to help.” It shows us something important, you can’t approach a holy God any kind of way. His presence isn’t common.

Now here’s where it shifts, catch this: When we look at the woman with the issue of blood, by law, she was the one who was unclean. Technically, when she touched Jesus, that should’ve made Him unclean too. Instead… the opposite happened. Her issue didn’t transfer to Him, His power transferred to her. Under the law, uncleanness separated you, but through Jesus, holiness restores you.

Here is the beauty of it all, God knows your heart. Through Jesus, you don’t have to stay bound to your issue. You can come to Him, with honesty and a full surrender. saying God I need you! He is still willing, right now, to make you whole. Press into Him!

Sis, your issue is not too big, your past is not too messy, and your situation is not too far gone.

If she could reach Him in a crowd, you can definitely reach Him right where you are.

And when you do, everything can change.

My prayer for you, Sis,

Father God, I pray for my sister right now who has been struggling to figure it all out.. She has been working nonstop to change her situation, but has not included You. God, I pray right now for a heart posture change. I pray that she begins to acknowledge You in all her ways so that You will direct her path, just as You promised. God, I pray that she has the strength and the courage to come to You in humility, seeking You to change her situation.

God, I thank You for Your peace right now in the midst of the issues she’s dealing with. I thank You that in laying at Your feet, that is where everything begins to change.

God, I thank You for the beautiful exchange: Your fruit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control, for every tormenting thought, every negative idea, every suicidal thought, and every limiting belief. I pray for her increased faith in You. In Your presence there is freedom, and she too can walk in the assurance of knowing that she is a daughter, safe in Your arms.

God, I thank You that You are drawing her closer to You even now. That You are softening her heart, opening her eyes, and remhttps://square.link/u/cmNtjsaXinding her that she doesn’t have to carry this alone. Strengthen her to trust You fully, not just with parts of her life, but with all of it. Remind her, God, that You are not distant, you are near, you are present, and You are concerned about every detail of her life. Let her feel Your love, Your comfort, and Your covering right where she is. And as she turns to You, God, I thank You that You are already working things out on her behalf, making crooked places straight, lifting burdens, and restoring what felt lost.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
