Weatherproof: Built to Last

When the Rain Comes

Did anyone else have weekend plans that were rained out?You had the outfit picked out, the itinerary set, and the vibe locked in—then boom, the skies opened up, and everything had to pause or pivot. And isn’t that just like life?

Rain has a way of showing up unannounced. It interrupts. It alters. It demands a decision. You either brave the storm with an umbrella and a made-up mind, or you pause, retreat, and call it a “rest day.”

But whether you're pressing through or sitting still, there's a truth that holds no matter what: your foundation matters.

“The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” — Matthew 7:25

Let’s be honest. Sometimes, the “rain” in our lives isn’t just weather—it’s warfare. It’s the health scare that caught you off guard. It’s the friction in your marriage that makes you question everything. It’s your child who has wandered far from the values you poured into them. It's the job you prayed for now feeling like the very thing draining you. The rent is late, the account is low, the pressure is high—and the forecast looks like more rain.

But here’s what the Word says: "The house was beat on—but it did not fall." To fall doesn’t just mean to trip. Falling means:

  • To descend from a higher place to a lower one.

  • To come under condemnation or judgment.

  • To be overtaken by fear, grief, or despair.

  • To lose authority or power.

But you, Sis, are not falling. You are rooted.

You are the house and Christ is the Rock.

When your life is built on Him—not the approval of people, not your income, not your status, not your relationships, but the unshakeable truth of who God is and what He’s spoken—you become a structure that can’t collapse. You may bend, but you will not break.

“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” — Matthew 16:18

Even when it’s storming, you’re still standing. Even when it’s thundering, you’re still covered. Even when the winds rage, you are anchored.

So let that be your declaration today:“On Christ the solid Rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand.”

Because in Him, no storm has the final say. The rain may come, but it can’t wash away what’s been built on the Rock.
