Resilience in Motion

The past few months has shown me just how important it is to live a lifestyle of prayer and fasting.  Life has a way of throwing us into seasons that test the very core of who we are. We face disappointments, betrayals, losses, and challenges that make us want to give up. Yet, resilience is not just about bouncing back it’s about pressing forward even when everything around us tells us to quit.

One of the most powerful biblical examples of resilience is the woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5:25–34). For twelve years she suffered. Twelve years of pain, shame, rejection, and isolation. She had spent all she had seeking healing from doctors, but nothing worked. If anyone had a reason to quit, it was her.

But resilience doesn’t quit.

This woman made a decision that changed everything. She said within herself, “If I just touch the hem of His garment, I will be made whole.” That thought, that spark of faith, pushed her beyond her pain into motion of relentlessly seeking Jesus. She pressed through the crowd despite being considered “unclean,” despite the risk of being judged, despite the exhaustion of a twelve-year battle. She chose to keep moving.

And the moment she touched Jesus, everything changed.

Her story teaches us several things about resilience:

1. Resilience Starts in the Mind

She told herself, “If I can just touch Him…” What you speak over yourself in hard seasons matters. Resilience begins with shifting your thoughts from defeat to possibility.

2. Resilience Requires Action

Faith alone wasn’t enough she had to push through the crowd. Resilience calls us to get up, move forward, and press through obstacles, no matter how impossible they look.

3. Resilience Often Means Going Alone

The woman had no one cheering her on. Sometimes resilience means walking alone, fueled only by the hope that things can change.

4. Resilience Leads to Breakthrough

Her persistence brought her into the presence of Jesus, and that’s where healing came. Resilience may not remove the process, but it positions you for breakthrough.

The woman with the issue of blood reminds us that resilience is not about denying the pain it’s about refusing to let the pain define your future.

So, whatever you’re facing today, remember: if she could keep pressing after twelve years, you can keep pressing too. Your healing, your breakthrough, your moment of wholeness may be just one step, one prayer, one act of courage away.

“Resilience is not the absence of struggle it’s the decision to press forward until you touch your breakthrough.”
