Sis, God Sees You

Sis,
Don’t allow this current season to become your identity. What has happened to you and even what may be happening right now, is not the end of your story. Just because your life may have been disrupted, that does not mean you cannot recover it all.

The enemy’s voice may seem loud, even overpowering what you know God has said about you. This is the perfect time to take hold of 2 Corinthians 10:5:“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” You have authority: to speak, to trample, to rule… to overcome!
If you don’t know Him, I’d like to introduce you to El Roi, the God who sees me.
We were first introduced to Him in Genesis 16 through Hagar, an Egyptian servant who was mistreated by Sarai and pushed to her limit… so she ran. While she was alone in the wilderness, carrying both her hurt and her uncertainty, Hagar found herself at a spring. For her, it was a place of pause in the middle of her chaos. And it was there that everything shifted. She was met by the Angel of the Lord. She was seen.
God called her by name and gave her instruction to return home and submit, to her leaders. The most beautiful part is that He didn’t send her back empty. He gave her a promise that her story would not end in suffering. She was assured that here would be fruit, legacy, and generations to come from her life. In that deeply personal moment, Hagar did something powerful, she named God El Roi, “The God Who Sees Me.” because in her lowest place, when she felt abandoned and mistreated, she realized something life-changing: She was never invisible to God.…and neither are you. God doesn’t automatically change our situations, He can, but sometimes, He allows us to go through them. While we are being tested and are in the fire, He is right there with us, holding our hand through it. He bottles every tear, exchanging our weeping for joy and our mourning for dancing. In those moments, our pain is producing perseverance (Romans 5:3–5).
Just know this: God knows what you’re going through. He sees you, and He cares.
Sis, feel your feelings, but don’t stay there. Don't come into agreement with how you feel. Keep going and don’t allow the enemy to plant seeds that cause you to stagnate or become distracted. You still have work to do, even in this season. Just as God did for Hagar, He will do for you. There are blessings attached to your obedience, not your feelings.
So stand up,, get back to what God told you to do and take your rightful place. Do what needs to be done… even in this hard season.

Sis,
Pause Here
Take a deep breath. You are not behind. You are not forgotten. You are not invisible.
God sees you, right here, right now.
For my sisters who journal, here are a few prompts for you to reflect on and write through.
What Does My Wilderness Season Looks Like? What feels uncertain, heavy, or uncomfortable?
What Thoughts Do I Need to Take Captive? What lies, fears, or negative thoughts have been loud?
What Does Walking in My Authority Looks Like? How will I show up differently starting today?
This week's affirmation: (Say it out loud)
I am not forgotten.because God is with me, even here.
This season is temporary and it will not define me.
I will walk in obedience, not just my feelings.
